The Magic of Maki Crafting Colorful and Flavorful Sushi Rolls at the Asian Food Lunch and Learn Workshop

Galway City, [May 9th, 2023] - Participants embarked on a mesmerizing journey into the art of sushi roll-making at the highly anticipated workshop led by renowned trainer and Sushi Chef Yoshimi Hayakawa along with Staff members Eoin and Paddy from Wa Cafe. The immersive event of Lunch & Learn Asian Food Workshop took place at Portershed Market Street, where attendees discovered the secrets behind crafting visually stunning and delectable sushi rolls. This culinary experience transported participants through the vibrant flavors and artistic presentation of this ancient Japanese tradition.

 

 

Under Yoshimi's expert guidance, participants unveiled the techniques that made sushi rolls truly magical. They learned the precise art of handling seaweed, the importance of perfectly seasoned sushi rice, and the artful placement of ingredients to create an exquisite balance of flavors and textures.

The workshop allowed participants to unleash their creativity as they designed their own unique sushi rolls. From classic California rolls to inventive flavor combinations, Yoshimi encouraged participants to explore their culinary imagination and craft edible masterpieces that were visually appealing and bursting with flavor.

The highlight of the event was the tasting session, where participants savored the fruits of their labor. Yoshimi san, with her expert palate, guided participants through an exploration of the flavor profiles and textures of each sushi roll, enhancing the overall appreciation of the artistry involved.

"We were delighted to welcome Yoshimi from Wa Cafe to share her expertise and passion for sushi roll-making with our community," said Carol Ho, organizer of the event from JCI Galway. "The workshop provided a unique opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in the culinary art form of maki, learn from a highly skilled trainer, and develop their own sushi-making prowess."

The workshop took place on May 9th, 2023 at Portershed in Galway City, leaving participants inspired and empowered to continue their culinary adventures in the world of sushi. This event is part of the Asian Food Festival which is generously sponsored by the Integration Community Fund from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability and Integration and Youth.
